Chiapas is: diverse, ancient, beautiful, indigenous, colorful, colonial, nature, adventurous, rebellious…

Due to its rugged geography that spans from sea level to 4150 m in altitude, the state possesses a great diversity of ecosystems that include tropical rainforests, woods, mountains, valleys, deep chasms, mangroves, rivers, impressive waterfalls, fantasy-like lakes and virgin beaches. This explains why it is of the states with the most biodiversity in the country, home to almost 20% of all the species in Mexico.

Chiapas is Mayan and Zoque territory where archeological sites abound and different ethnic groups live such as Tzotziles, Tzeltales, Choles, Tojolabales, Zoques, Cakchiqueles, Kanjolobales, Mames, Mochos, Chujes and Lacandonas that together form the Chiapanecan population of over 1 million inhabitants. It is a paradise where responsible and solidarity tourism can take place.
