This tour was designed for lovers of nature, adventure and Mayan culture. We’ll take you to explore the jungle from within and from above! In this excursion you will discover the Lacanjá Lagoon, a “virgin” place within the Montes Azules nature reserve whose water is crystal-clear and pure all year-round. There is no tourist infrastructure in this hidden site so access to the site involves a good 9km walk (18 km there and back) in the jungle. The walk is medium level and will be done in collaboration with local Lacandona people. The adventure continues with a rafting descent down the Lacanjá river, a scenic route through waterfalls and backwaters whose exuberant tropical vegetation we will penetrate. We will also climb to the top of a great ceiba (sacred tree in Mayan culture) to admire flora and fauna that live in this high evergreen forest.
